York Health Economics Consortium (YHEC), in collaboration with the Centre for Health Economics (CHE) at the University of York, is the Economic and Methodological Unit (EMU) for the NICE Public Health and Social Care Centre (PHSCC).
The EMU has been commissioned by NICE to produce the economic analyses and associated economic models to NICE specifications to aid the Public Health Advisory Committees in guideline development. In addition, the EMU will be commissioned to carry out projects to address methodological issues identified by the PHSCC.
NICE public health guidelines make recommendations on local interventions that can help prevent disease or improve health. The guidelines are aimed at public health professionals and practitioners and others with a direct or indirect role in public health within the NHS, local authorities and the wider public, voluntary, community and private sectors.
