Preferred Reporting Items are the reporting items deemed by The PRISMA Group to be essential for maintaining a minimum level of reporting quality in systematic reviews and meta-analyses. They are detailed on the 27 item PRISMA Checklist and are split into the sections: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Funding. Each category contains guidance on the minimum information points (“items”) that should be reported in each section of a report or manuscript, to ensure a consistent minimum standard of reporting.
