Diagnostics Assessment Programme (DAP)
The Diagnostics Assessment Programme (DAP) is run by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK. Its purpose is to evaluate the clinical effectiveness and cost effectiveness of new and innovative diagnostic technologies, such as tests, imaging, and algorithms.
The DAP is specifically designed for complex assessments where a detailed cost-effectiveness analysis is required, and where the introduction of the technology is likely to increase overall costs for the NHS. The programme provides recommendations to the NHS on whether a new diagnostic technology should be adopted, and how it should be used, to ensure consistent and efficient practice.
