Health Utilities for Economic Models
Description
This training course has now passed. The next dates for 2026 will be confirmed in January.
Health utilities are a critical component of cost-utility analysis, a key requirement for NICE and other health technology assessment (HTA) bodies. These values capture the change in a patient's quality of life from a treatment, and as a result, they can be a key driver of your cost-effectiveness results. But obtaining the right utility values for your economic evaluation can be a challenge.
This one-day training course gives you a deep dive into the different approaches for obtaining these vital health utility values. We will introduce each method, providing a clear overview of its implementation, strengths, and limitations across various contexts.
You'll also explore:
- Real-world examples from past NICE technology appraisals, complete with commentary from External Assessment Groups.
- The limitations of current utility methods and a look at potential alternative approaches for the future.
This course will give you the practical knowledge you need to confidently find, apply, and defend the health utility values in your next economic evaluation.
