Before joining YHEC, Hayden worked as a Health Economist and Medical Device Advisor at Pharmac, the government agency in New Zealand responsible for publicly funding medicines and medical devices. This experience gave him a unique insight into the prioritisation process for deciding which new medicines receive public funding. He also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Health and a BCom in Economics from the University of Otago in New Zealand.
A passionate educator, Hayden regularly leads health economics training. This experience includes knowledge transfer partnerships with the Singapore Ministry of Health and the Danish Medicines Council. He is also a module leader for the University of York’s Health Economics by Distance Learning MSc programme.
