Karen has an ongoing interest in medical labour markets, which began with her PhD on the pay and reward of NHS hospital consultants. She believes that health economics should pay more attention to issues affecting the health and care workforce, such as productivity and team dynamics. She holds a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Health Economics, having been drawn to the field by the ability to apply economic thinking to real-world challenges.
