Citation index

A citation index is a specialised bibliographic database that offers citation analysis features, going beyond simply listing publications. A key functionality is the ability to explore the citation network of an article, allowing users to see both the articles it references (published earlier) and the articles that cite it (published later). Prominent examples include the Science Citation Index (SCI) and the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI).
