Case-control study
A case-control study is an observational study that compares two groups of participants: individuals with a specific outcome or condition (cases) and individuals without it (controls). This study design involves retrospectively examining and comparing the histories of both cases and controls to identify potential exposures or risk factors that may be associated with the outcome. This design is commonly used in epidemiology to investigate the possible links between diseases (e.g. mesothelioma) and exposures (e.g. asbestos particles).
