Late-Stage Assessment

Late-stage assessment (LSA) forms part of NICE’s lifecycle approach to technology evaluation. LSA aims to assess technologies that are in widespread or established use in the NHS to support procurement and commissioning decisions. Products within a category may have undergone continuous improvement and incremental innovation, leading to price variation across a range of products. LSA will, therefore, assess if the added value of a technology’s incremental innovation justifies the price variation. Examples of previous LSAs can be located on the NICE website.
