Simulated treatment comparison (STC)

Simulated treatment comparisons (STC) are a statistical method used to compare treatments when no head-to-head trial exists. It uses individual patient data from one study to model how patients would respond if they received a different treatment studied elsewhere, adjusting for differences in patient characteristics across trials. This allows for an indirect comparison of treatment effects while accounting for population differences.
